Welcome To the Swinging Strings Blog

The Swinging Strings Project would like to welcome pupils, parents and all interested parties to our website. This blog tracks the progress of 80+ children (and their teachers!) as they learn the violin. It is intended to act as a resource for the pupils as they progress and act as an information point for parents, teachers etc.

The project is delivered on an inclusive basis and links to the Irish Primary Music Curriculum. This means that ALL students particpate irrespective of musical backgrounds. It is believed that it is the one of biggest inclusive projects of its kind in the country. Have a look around and learn all about our violin project.   We had singing from choir members and we had a duet ( two parts) * Emmanuel and teacher.

Rocket Bows and Stave Notes Week 6



Here is what we did today
1 Excerpt   Ode to Joy Beethoven  Tr 17  Rocket Bows We put the tips of our bows on the D string to shoot our bows skywards  to this popular tune by Beethoven .Are your fingers pointing skywards 


2. Down Up Bows  on A to Rock You 







3 We learned how about harmony and how to recognise the change of note in the bass accompaniment to Away in a Manger

Brass Bands and Balloon Bows

A very exciting day today as mystery guests from Ennis Brass Band visited all our classes today
